Brave Coast is a new band from Southern California, and has just started to break out in the music scene with their hardcore punk sound and melodic ambiance. Brave Coast consists of Chris Blas (vocals), Nick Lopez (guitar), Kenny Aguilar (Drums), and Elmo Arteaga (Bass). Originating from Chula Vista, this interesting band has given themselves a solid foundation with the release of their single, “Pushing Forwards, Falling Back” and their shared EP, Finding Home For The First Time, with Hotel Books. The four tracks produced by Brave Coast are the perfect benchmark for kick starting their careers.

The generality of metalcore/hardcore bands in the music scene tends to get exhausting, but Brave Coast is undeniably excluded from this group. Their hit songs like “Sincere” and “Dead End Dreams” hold special significance for their haunting atmosphere and rough configuration. Instead of conforming to the clichés of hardcore music, Brave Coast’s scattered style mixes well with the smooth and dulcet guitar riffs to find balance within each track. They add signature touches to their sound to add mood, like the integration of Charlie Chaplin’s speech from the Great Dictator in “Sincere” and the rugged pace of “Nothing More Than Bone.

Very recently, Brave Coast has released their newest single, “Life Long.” This short track is packed with potential. They introduce new ideas such as clean vocals and more balanced rhythms. These different elements further expand Brave Coast’s capabilities as artists.

While their sound is original, it sometimes takes a little more for bands in the scene to stand out. So what does Brave Coast have? The answer to this question is their passion. The heartfelt and emotive lyrics are delivered to the fullest potential with the captivating and raw vocals of Chris Blas. Each track is tremendously personal and intimate, and is used to connect with listeners. Their ultimate motive is to “inspire fans by showing support and solidarity in that nobody has to go through life alone.” This idea separates Brave Coast from the rest. The pure passion that they have to create something important not only for themselves, but for their listeners, leaves them deserving the utmost recognition.
