There is no question that we are living in very strange and uncertain times. Filled with negativity, politicized agendas, and more, thankfully we can turn to music as a sanctuary away from it all. Lead by prolific Artist David Hawkins, the band Hawk have more than enough brightness to offer with their latest music video for “You Are The One I Want.” Off their latest album Fly, watch the new video below:
A track with a distinctive ’80s vibe, particularly that of The Cure, it is a fun listen matched with an engaging, trippy music video. Hawkins states, “This song came to me out of the blue one day, and it clearly grew from my love of bands like New Order and The Cure. It speaks to Desire and the longing for union on several levels, including the spiritual. It’s kind of a sonic altar to the Goddess. The video creates a throbbing, almost hypnotic pulse of Psychedelia. Be drummer (and Hawk guest drummer) Randy Morris brings the beat while the Goddess (my wife Jill Hawkins) dances the flame. I love the way it turned out; It’s vibrant and kinetic, but it has a mesmerizing quality to it. And the message is Love.”
A message we could all use right now, when it seems all the news is bad, Hawk offers vibrant, feel good vibes. And those curious to know even more about the band themselves, beyond leader David Hawkins, there is the stellar lineup of Ken Stringfellow from The Posies (and R.E.M. and Big Star), Drummer Pete Thomas of Elvis Costello’s legendary Attractions, and newly-added Morgan Fisher of Mott The Hoople (who’s also played with Queen and Yoko Ono). Well worth checking out, “You Are The One I Want” is just one of many highlights Alternative Rock fans should seek to discover out of Hawk’s catalog.
