You could make the case for Def Leppard as one of the most active legacy artists around today. One of the best-selling Rock bands ever, with over 100 million albums sold, other career highlights include two Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, a 2019 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and, most recently, the recipients of their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on October 9, 2025. However, as mentioned, what is ever-impressive about Def Leppard is their consistent activity.
Releasing a brand-new studio album in 2022, Diamond Star Halos, it was also a big hit, reaching the top ten on the US Billboard 200. However, they also released a unique remix record titled Drastic Symphonies in 2023 (which they re-recorded classic tracks with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra). Also a hit with fans, the band has regularly toured over the years, including a co-headlining tour with Journey in 2024, several shows in 2025, and a Las Vegas residency scheduled for February 3-28, 2026. If this were not enough, Def Leppard also put out a fantastic super deluxe edition of 1983’s Pyromania in 2024 in honor of the 40th anniversary. Moreover, they have not been a slouch in the wave of live material, because in the last decade alone, they have put out three more live albums between 2017’s And There Will Be a Next Time… Live from Detroit, 2023’s London to Vegas, and 2024’s One Night Only: Live at the Leadmill. Think that is enough? Think again, because in 2025 Def Leppard are set to strike again with the new live album called Diamond Star Heroes: Live from Sheffield.

Set for release on November 21, 2025, through Mercury, Diamond Star Heroes: Live from Sheffield is the band’s sixth live album since 2011’s Mirror Ball – Live & More, and once again finds them conjuring up a unique experience. Providing a reference to more recent events, One Night Only: Live at the Leadmill captured an intimate performance in front of only 900 fans, which translated marvelously into a live album/home DVD or Blu-ray. On the other hand, Def Leppard’s Diamond Star Heroes Live From Sheffield captures a set in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly 40,000 fans in their hometown of Sheffield. A stark contrast, it was filmed in 2023 (on May 2nd, days after the Leadmill performance) at the massive football stadium, Bramall Lane. Filmed amidst the band’s The World Tour with Mötley Crüe, it was one of two dates at the hometown stadium and was filled with excitement.
Offering a carefully selected set of seventeen songs, you get to hear classics like “Love Bites,” “Foolin’” “Brining’ On The Heartbreak,” “Rock of Ages, and of course, “Pour Some Sugar On Me.” Just a sampling, you also get newer tracks making their live UK debut with “Take What You Want” and “This Guitar” (which was emotionally dedicated to late Def Leppard Guitarist Steve Clark). All sounding fantastic, the performances of the long-standing all-star lineup of Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick Savage (bass), Rick Allen (drums), and Vivian Campbell (guitar) are full of enthusiasm.

Available in several formats, the purchase options include Blu-ray + 2CD, 4K UHD, 2CD, and 2LP set. A great variety; what you purchase depends on your personal preference. However, the Blu-ray+2CD comes in a lovely high-gloss double-gatefold digipak. With the performance split across the 2 CDs, the sound is top-notch in terms of production, without the live feel being stifled. This is while the Blu-ray lets you experience the concert with great camera angles that capture the band’s movements and emotions, along with great sound.
Some might say that too many live albums create fatigue amongst listeners, but this is not the case with Def Leppard. Their inventive approach to presenting something fresh and different with each release makes them not only entertaining but also great time capsules of the band’s ongoing musical journey. That is why Cryptic Rock recommends this new addition to your Def Leppard collection, giving Diamond Star Heroes Live From Sheffield in any format 4.5 out of 5 stars.
