New York Punk Rock is where it all began for those who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s. Towards the later years of that era, Ska Punk took on its Third Wave dominant form. From those roots grew Gogol Bordello, a one-of-a-kind troop of gypsys who excelled in Punk and Post-Punk, often adding a touch of Techno, Romani, or even polka. With all this in mind, Gogol Bordello is back with a brand new album titled We Mean It, Man! on February 13, 2026, via Casa Gogol Records.
With plans underway for a new tour, with numerous US and Canadian dates beginning February 19th, We Mean It, Man! is 12 tracks long, starting off with the title track, which explodes into a fun anthem led by Ukrainian Vocalist Eugene Hütz. The magic behind Gogol Bordello is that they always perform as a large troupe of around 10 members from different cultures worldwide. They are always upbeat, full of dance moves, and perform acrobatics as they see fit. It is not unusual to see Eugene sailing on some kind of makeshift raft over an audience in a live setting, either.
On the recording of this latest album, new Guitarist Leo Mintek (ex-Outernational) joins synth wizard plus accordion goddess Erica Mancini. Their modern Post-Punk style with orchestral elements is an energetic refresher for 2026’s new music releases. The song “Life Is Possible Again” is catchy and full of well-deserved optimism. Directly following this are a couple of political and satirically charged pieces titled “No Time For Idiots” and “Hater Liquidator.” On “Ignition,” there is a nice dance-beat undertone that builds into a fun, more orchestral mix of pungent fruitiness.
In the latter portion of the new Gogol Bordello album, “Mystica,” “We Did Good With The Good We Did” features strong musical energy that would translate well to a live show. Winding down to the song “State Of Shock,” the stakes are high, and the instrumental changes are spot on. To end it all is a whimsical orchestra adventure with a bold message titled “Solidarity.” Overall, Gogol Bordello never has a dull moment, as they are always fully fueled and spreading a beautifully lit musical fire over everyone whose ears come into contact with them.
Overall, We Mean It, Man! is a powerful, culturally inclusive message they choose to share around the world, no matter what darkness in life looms overhead. Gogol Bordello has maintained the authenticity and strength of their music from their 1999 origin to today. Celebrating 2026’s one-of-a-kind Gogol Bordello album, Cryptic Rock gives it 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommends support for live music by checking them out on tour.
