Comedy shows are always a great way to spend an evening out, and a night of laughter is the best medicine from the mundane work week. Becoming the premier entertainment spot on Long Island, The Paramount in Huntington, New York has been known for its recent line up of strong, headlining comedians that perform some of the best shows around. On Saturday January 10th, The Pablo Francisco comedy show was a perfect example of such and it was sure to give Long Islanders their money’s worth.
The show’s MC and opener was comedian Sean Savoy. Born and raised in Columbia, Maryland, he has appeared frequently at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. He has also recently been on a worldwide tour alongside Francisco, leaving audiences in stitches. Savoy’s brand of rapid fire comedy gave the audience a great start to the evening as he touched on various topics such as race, relationships, weed, and the paranormal. He kept his humor diverse and fresh to ensure he had everyone’s attention from start to finish. Breaking out into songs throughout his set, one of the golden moments was his impersonation of the chefs at the well-known hibachi restaurant “Benihana.” Savoy has a lot of potential and will surely be moving up the comedy ladder in no time.
Next up was comedian Steve Kramer. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, he grew up loving karaoke. Kramer has been in the comedy game since 1998, and was one of the very few comics that made it on the fast track as a headliner. He has had countless seats within the entertainment industry, including everything from comedy, producing, and animation. Throughout his years he has pulled off an endless amount of comedic accomplishments, such as the comedy show Hype in 2000, Riverland in 2003, and his 2010 animation featured in Just For Laughs. As a extremely talented performer, he can perform multiple acts simultaneously as a one man show. He sings, plays instruments, does celebrity impressions, and can tell a joke all in the same sentence. His voice is so beautiful that he could have probably been a professional singer if he chose to. He did multiple song parodies against artists such as Lady Gaga, Megadeth, Vanilla Ice, Pearl Jam, and Iggy Azalea. These performances were so hilarious that it felt like doing fifty sit-ups. He continued his set with multiple accurate impressions of celebrities such as Christopher Walken, Matthew Mcconaughey, Al Pacino, and Christian Bale. One of the many highlights was his imitation of Dog the Bounty Hunter being the love child of Jesse Ventura and the Cowardly Lion. This hysterical and graphic portrayal was definitely the icing on the cake. Kramer is a strong performer that most likely will have continued success throughout his career. Comedians like him are hard to come by, as not many can keep audiences laughing as consistently as he does. Kramer mentioned that he and Francisco were currently working on a cartoon series together, so that is something to look out for.
After the crowd was already full of tears and tummy pains from laughing so hard, Francisco took the stage full of energy and excitement. Francisco is a beloved, world-renowned comedian who started his career doing improv in his hometown of Tempe, Arizona. Since then, Francisco has had nothing but success with his hysterical brand of comedy. In addition to his multiple comedy specials and world tours, he has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Comedy Central’s The Showbiz Show with David Spade and Mind Of Mencia. Francisco is a walking arsenal of dead on celebrity impressions that leaves audiences unable to breathe in between sets. He is constantly transforming himself into multiple characters, both vocally and physically, within seconds and never seems to skip a beat.
In his time on stage, he made sure to include his signature impressions of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Don LaFontaine a.k.a – “the Moviefone guy.” In between all impressions, he would throw in the phrase “Are you in good hands?” impersonating the Allstate car insurance actor. This phrase was extra helpful after some down moments, especially after he did a Michael J. Fox impression that left the crowd slightly unamused. He continued his hilarious output with impersonations of Mark Wahlberg, Casey Kasem, and Tony Montana on Instagram. The set ended with him and Kramer on stage together doing multiple impressions of Arnold Schwarzenegger having sex with various celebrities; Francisco played Arnold while Kramer played the other celebrities. Proving to be a great way to end the show, the chemistry that these two comedians share with the plethora of talent between them was clearly visible. In fact, whatever they create together is bound to be a triumph for fans.
The Pablo Francisco comedy show was a huge success and a delightful way to spend a Saturday night. All three comedians were on their game for the entire performance, leaving the whole audience with permanent smiles on their faces. Laughter is one of the greatest gifts to help anyone through tough times, and a show like this is the perfect way to make someone’s day a little brighter.
