Being a part of a Rock-n-Roll band can be quite challenging. Now, some may say – Are you serious?… you get to play music for fun! Well, taking a closer look, a band is a mix of people; all with different ideas of how to approach a song. Initially this can be something a group of players might work with, but sadly sometimes human nature gets in the way, personalities clash, and bands fall apart at the seams. Thankfully some are able to check their egos at the door and keep their act together for more than one album… like Plush.

For those unfamiliar with the name, Plush consists of Singer/Guitarist Moriah Formica, Lead Guitarist Bella Perron, Bassist Ashley Suppa, and Drummer Faith Powell. Together they make up a Hard Rock four piece, who while still under the age of 21 back in 2021, struck the interest of Pavement Music to sign them up. With that, the band put out a self-titled debut album in 2021; charting two Billboard Top 40 singles in “Hate” and “Better Off Alone.”

Impressive, if you missed that debut album, Formica showcased powerful, emotional vocals, and the music itself was quite solidly composed. In recent years even sharing stages with bands like KISS, Alice in Chains, and Evanescence… are Plush now ready for the next big step?

A loaded question, they could easily let an initial taste of success go to their heads, going onto seek more instant gratifications in opportunities outside the band. Well, they have opted to not be so short sighted and stick together for the release of more new music in 2024. Their follow up to 2021’s self-titled album, Plush returned on January 19th with their brand-new EP entitled Find The Beautiful. Older, wiser, and more polished as a collective unit, Find The Beautiful proves that Plush are absolutely ready for the next step.

Featuring six songs, they once again team up with accomplished Producer Johnny K (who has worked with everyone from Disturbed to Staind), but what really stands out here is the refinement of Formica’s songwriting. A product of experience, these songs are efforts of a maturing group of musicians. A really dialed in collection of tunes, in a little over twenty-two minutes Plush keeps you captivated from start to finish. This includes the 2023 single “Left Behind,” but also the heavy “Kill The Noise,” but also the stunning title-track. Beyond this, “Run” creates a mood, “Hope It Hurts” offers more catchy Hard Rock, while their cover of Heart’s “Barracuda” is nothing less than perfect.

In the end, Find The Beautiful is the best work yet from Plush. A collection that is modern yet reminiscent of the pristine songwriting Rock music experienced during the ‘80s Radio Rock era, this EP is a music listen for Hard Rock fans of all ages. And if you want to check them out live as well, they will be out on tour with Disturbed and Falling in Reverse around the USA through early March. That is why Cryptic Rock gives the progression of Plush heard on Find The Beautiful 4.5 out of 5 stars.
