Watch the trailer for Oculus below and be sure to check out the film this week!
I have already seen the film so cannot say why I am excited for but I can say why I was excited. Karen Gillan is why I started watching Dr. Who. It has since gone on to consume my life. As you can tell from my email I am quite a fan of horror films. Rory Cochrane played Slater in Dazed and Confused which the soundtrack was the first CD I ever owned. I have followed the film since it was in production and have obsessed over it since the April 11the release date was announced in January. Finally, umm, Katee Sackhoff was in R Riddick which I thought was OK.
I am really excited to see OCULUS, because I’ve been checking out the trailers, and I must say that they deliver the goods, without any spoilers. I think the cast is great, and I love the synopsis of the film. And I’m really looking forward to seeing it in theaters real soon!
I think this looks awesome. I’m going to see it this weekend and I can’t wait. I read a book as a kid that has a similar theme to this movie and it’s always stuck with me. Plus I think there is something slightly freaky about mirrors anyway!
The cast is what initially drew me to the film. I absolutely adore Katee Sackhoff and Karen Gillan. Then I find out that it is from the producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious, both of which I enjoy very much. Best of all I learn that the film is to be released on my birthday, so there is that special little connection. My friend will be taking me to see this this weekend as a late birthday present. Can’t wait!
As an aspiring film maker I enjoy studying all horror movies!
I’ve seen all the horror films that Blumhouse has put out, including all the Paranormal Activity movies, Dark Skies, Insidious, Sinister, The Purge, Area 51. I’m also excited to hear that they’ll be doing the JEM & The Holograms movie, so I’m looking forward to that. Also, Karen Gillan is a cutie pie! <3
I still haven’t seen it, but I’ve seen the short and I’ve been excited about the full-legnth version ever since!
I’m excited for Oculus because we haven’t had a good horror mirror movie since Mirrors. Oh, and my boyfriend saw it already without me so I need to see it so we can talk about it! =]
It looks very scary and I have heard good things about it. I find the idea interesting and unique. Any horror movie that has to do with mirrors scares me as I often find myself wondering if my reflection can move by itself after watching horror films.
Ive already seen Oculus, which i thought i was amazing, but ill still write why i was excited for it. For the past couple of years, movie after movie about any type of paranormal activity (no pun intended) or occurrences have been getting churned out one after the other. None of them really stood out from each other almost seeming like you could blend them into one movie if you really wanted to. The same plots and ideas have been regurgitated over and over again and after a while I as well as everyone else i bet is thinking I’ve seen this before, hoping to see something new and invigorating. I was hoping and praying that someone would breathe new life into this dying genre and i believed that Oculus would be the one doing the CPR. Even though their have been movies in the past that have delved into the idea of a haunted mirror, i believed that this would and could be different. And boy was I right. It totally turns the plot on its head and really gives us something that we haven’t seen before, all while staying mildly similar. I had almost lost all hope in any type of paranormal or ghost film, and Im glad that this movie changed my mind. I was also really excited for this movie because of the fact that it is about a mirror. I have always been creeped out by mirrors, especially as a kid growing up with a wild imagination (bloody mary anyone?). So I thought it would be a perfect movie to creep me out and maybe cause me to have an unsettling feeling. (something that no horror film has done in a long time and why i feel a lot of people see horror films)
