32nd Annual Wave Gotik Treffen Festival Coming To Germany

It is time for the annual Wave Gothic Treffen Festival in a little under a month. Also known as WGT, it is the 32nd annual festival since it all began in 1992. A long time ago, since then, it has become the largest Gothic festival worldwide for many reasons, covering all sub-genres of dark music: Gothic, EBM, Industrial, Dark Ambient, Neofolk, Synth Pop, Goth Metal, Post Punk, etc. Every year at Withsun, Gothic fans from all over the world meet at the genre’s biggest event. Many visitors have come for many years in a row.

The festival takes place in Leipzig, Germany, and takes up the whole city: around forty stunning venues across town, a camping site, and the main venue – Agra-Messepark at Markkleeberg, the edge of town. The WGT is not only known for its wide variety of bands with concerts, the huge Gothic market place at the main venue, signing sessions and such, but also author readings, theaters,  operas, organ music at churches, guided tours across the cemetery or the Völkerschlachtdenkmal, a Victorian Picnic at the park, Pagan Village, and open doors at museums, exhibitions and so much more – most entry fees are included in the festival ticket. WGT is an event for the entire family – from grandparents to the young kids – and there is so much to explore.

With an expected twenty thousand visitors, the festival brings in a variety of styles, music-wise and fan-wise. WGT is notorious for its fans dressing up in historic clothing, steampunk, or even fetish. At night, there are parties for each style as well. The city has a lot of history and a unique culture, and the festival adds a lot of culture and style. The inhabitants of Leipzig have become familiar with the festival throughout the decades and welcome the guests with open arms. Every year feels like a huge family reunion, meeting twenty thousand friends and family members. It is an experience that is highly recommended! 

Here is all the essential information in short: 

Date: 

June 6-9, 2025

Location: 

Leipzig, Germany, with about forty venues spread across town (you will get a map at check-in)

Tickets: 

4-day-tickets for all events within the 32nd Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Whitsun 2025 are available for 170,- € each in advance

ticket sale. The Treffen-Event-Ticket includes the free usage of all public transport within Zone 110 of the

MDV(Mitteldeutscher Verkehrverbund), this includes all trams, buses, and S-Bahn lines except special lines, e.g.

sightseeingtours).

Camping:

For camping, you need a special ticket called an Obsorgekarte (available for 50€), which allows you to stay at the Treffen-Campground (Agra-fairground) from June 5 to 10.

Parking:

Parking in the Treffen area (Agra) requires a parking vignette, which costs 20€ (including advance sale charges). Parking in the Treffen area (Agra-Messepark) is definitely not possible without a parking vignette.
