Beware of Darkness, the musical guise of Frontman Kyle Nicolaides, blend bold influences ranging from Arctic Monkeys and Royal Blood to The Struts and Cage the Elephant. Crafting a unique Indie Rock approach, the Los Angelino delivered his raucous debut, Orthodox, in 2013, before going on to present a more bleak, self-aware view in 2016’s Are You Real?. But all of that is about to change as Beware of Darkness take the next step in their sonic evolution.
An upbeat romp with some serious feel-good vibes, inspired by themes of mental health awareness, Nicolaides’ latest, “Bloodlines,” tackles the concept of sticking together—be it with a loved one, friend, family member, or even yourself. In such divisive times, it’s an important subject to delve into. Notes Nicolaides: “It’s telling that person, I’m on your team for life. I accept you and support you no matter your past, present, or future hold; you’re stuck with me whether you like it or not and I’ll hold you up when you’re down, be with you in your celebrations, and believe in you when no one else does.”
