Blameshift tells all their secrets to The Rock Shop in Fayeteville, NC 2-8-14 (Exclusive coverage)

With the threat of a snow storm looming over North Carolina, people needed a reprieve from the crazy winter weather, and what better than a rock-n-roll show.  On Saturday February 8th, a nice showing of rockers assembled at The Rock Shop in Fayetteville, NC to check some of the best bands in the local scene along with national touring band Blameshift.

Opening the show were Wilmington, NC band Pet Names.  Originally a four person band, unfortunately one of the guitarists fell ill and was unable to perform at the show.  Nonetheless, the band battled on, performing with high intensity and ferocity that gave the crowd their much needed music craving, mixing power chords and thick bass into a style they like to call unpunk .  Being the first of five bands to perform, the audience was extremely pleased with the start, and the band known as Pet Names certainly won a lot of new fans.

The rock band Kindler from Greensboro, NC was next and they provided a powerful punch of energy while on stage.  They possessed the type of stage presence not many local acts have mastered.  Each song brought its own unique emotion and the band certainly proved to the audience that they deserve to be heard by all, and perhaps have what it takes to reach beyond the local scene.

Next up were New York’s Blameshift which brought elevated levels of energy, intensity, and emotion at The Rock Shop. This was the band’s second night of their Tell Me All Your Secrets Tour 2014. The audience was ecstatic to have, what has become, a local favorite play this show and able to see them perform music from their latest album Secrets. Blameshift also introduced two new band members that evening in Dan Scofield as their new drummer and Mike Sarkissian as their new bassist. Their performance was tight and the chemistry seemed to be working well with the two new additions.  The core of Blameshift, Jenny Mann (vocalist) and Tim Babour (guitarist), played to the crowd’s energy and showed why they are always welcome in the state.  This was also an extra special performance for the band because it was being recorded as part of a new television show for The Rock Shop.  With the stakes high, Blameshift performed like professionals combining passion and adrenaline for a town they called one of their favorite places to stop on tour.  Things keep getting bigger and bigger for this band and it won’t be long before more people see what they have to offer.

Immediately following was the Southern Pines, NC band Set For The Fall.  Just like Blameshift, this band certainly brought the crowd to their feet. The band is perhaps one of the best from the North Carolina area displaying strong stage presence. Set For The Fall delivered a rush of sound as if they were performing in front of a crowded arena.  They played such tracks as “Nerve”, “Just Like You”, and “Gave It All” from their EP From Darkness To Light, which is well worth checking out.

From Fayetteville, NC, Three Beards was the final band to perform for the evening.  Their mellow alternative rock sound has helped the band become another favorite in the North Carolina rock scene.  They mixed some original tunes with some classic rock covers including Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child O’ Mine”.  In classy fashion vocalist Kenneth Freeman dedicated the song to Blameshift vocalist Jenny Mann to show love, appreciation, and respect for her as a strong female in hard rock. The crowd was extremely pleased with the closing set and overall evening of rock n roll to take their minds off the gloomy winter.
