Each blazing their own trail, Crazy Lixx played local clubs in Sweden, building a following before their 2007 debut album Loud Minority began to make some noise, resulting in their eventual signing on with Frontiers Records. Going into 210, they released their second album, New Religion, and since that time, Crazy Lixx has been a consistent force of Rock-n-Roll fury with one album after another.
In fact, led by Vocalist/Guitarist Danny Rexon, Crazy Lixx has put out seven studio albums since the start of the well-received 2011 effort Street Lethal. Then, in 2024, they capitalized on that success with Two Shots at Glory, featuring three new songs and remixes of those from Street Lethal. You could say nothing can stop them, and on February 14, 2025, Crazy Lixx gifts the world a heart-shaped music box labeled Thrill of the Bite… a brand new album filled with ten bite-sized delectable soundtracks.
Released through Frontiers Music s.r.l., Thrill of the Bite marks the band’s eighth studio album, and its rhythmic dynamism is spectacular and electrifying. Led by the blistering single “Midnight Rebels,” it confirms that these Swedes continue to evolve musically and deliver kick-ass music in a metallic embrace. Having replicated the musical gene sequence from the DNA of such bold and brassy bands of the likes of Whitesnake and Def Leppard, Crazy Lixx altered it to create their own unique pulsating Rock sound.
For example, the first track,” Highway Hurricane,” goes down parched throats as if it were a shot of Fireball whisky. The liquid fire of sound sends a flooding sensation of warmth throughout the body. The interplay of high-voltage guitar play packs a punch and reels the senses with the pungency of cinnamon. The loud and bold tones of the screaming vocals overlap, sending electric shocks zinging through the air in anticipation of the rainbands that will swiftly follow.
A few other tasty standouts in this box of chocolates are “Who Said Rock N’ Roll Is Dead,” a rollicking tune topped with a medley of guitar riffs. This is a bite to be savored and experienced in the moment. This one leaves one pumped up and ready for more. The tune is conducive to hair twirling and executing little mini jumps in the air.
Then there is “Little Miss Dangerous,” which has raspy-berry deep vocals kicking around caramel nougat guitar pickups. The vibrations of the guitar string are aggressive and pronounced. This piece is rife with guitar solos walking in the background and gritty vocals. This is while “Call of the Wild” is the one that sends the mind into overdrive. It surely contains wave after wave of mind-stimulating guitar riffs, the mind riding them on surfboards. This can definitely become a favorite go-to.
Overall, Thrill of the Bite offers versatility in music that pumps up the soul and has a familiarity that many love to enjoy listening to. When stress and everyday life have you in a bind, this provides the virtual thrill of an escape with a bite of musical bliss. This is why Cryptic Rock gives Crazy Lixx’s return 5 out of 5 stars.
