When directing a Horror movie on a low budget, it can be challenging to create a successful outcome, to say the least. In the case of the new standalone Horror movie titled Piglet, the result is quite the opposite of successful.
Available on Digital Download as of June 2, 2025, through ITN Distribution in the USA and The Movie Partnership in the UK, directed by Andrea M. Catinella (The Dancing Queen 2024, The Interpreter 2024) and written by Harry Boxley (Popeye’s Revenge 2025, Fairest of Them All 2025), Piglet is one of the latests reimagining classic fairytales characters transformed into a Horror movie, however, it is not a part of the Twisted Childhood Nightmares series which includes 2023’s Blood & Honey. The basic premise is as typical as Friday the 13th’s Jason meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface with a serial killer/slasher villain wearing a creepy pig mask, known as Piglet.

Somewhere in a cabin in the woods, Kate (Alina Desmond: Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 2024, Fairest of Them All 2025) and a group of friends celebrate a birthday only to be terrorized by Piglet. Problem child number 1 of this awkward movie is that it is a stand-alone film from the Winnie the Pooh Horror movies, despite featuring familiar characters. The dialogue is almost incomprehensible at times, the character connections are non-existent at best, and even the props are so cheesy that no one would ever take them seriously. Furthermore, the metal hook acts wobbly like the foam rubber it was most likely made from.

Then, there is the best of the worst part of Piglet, which is the blood splattering in every Horror scene being so absolutely nowhere near accurate. With that in mind, for anyone who loves Dexter, this Piglet movie is highly unrecommended. Sometimes B-Horror Slasher films can at least be comical, but sadly, this is not one of those. There is no actual slashing that is shown, as it is compiled together with before and after shots, so choppy that a middle school play could have had a smoother result.
Overall, Piglet could be one of the most difficult Horror films to watch in 2025. The most memorable moment is when a bunch of 21-year-olds wear cardboard cone-style kids’ birthday hats in a serious way. After that blasphemous scene, the rest is child’s play.

The adorable name of ‘Piglet’ certainly does not go with the villain’s persona, and the slow, stagnant plot is so boring that it was too hard to hold out to watch until the end. As a moral of this story, it is not a good idea to attempt a copycat film like this, given that it already lacks originality and features some of the worst special effects possible.
At least the advertising poster looked a bit menacing, but otherwise, Cryptic Rock unfortunately has to give Piglet 1 out of 5 stars.
