The Quiet Ones 2025

The Quiet Ones (Movie Review)

In 2008, armed with a stolen bulldozer, what was believed to have been fourteen men from all across Europe forced their way into Dansk Værdihåndtering’s building on Koenmarksvej in Broendby, a suburb of Copenhagen. The men stole over sixty-two million Danish kroner (ten million US dollars). The men then escaped in three stolen cars in Sweden. The robbery, though, had been planned meticulously with operations that seemed almost military-based. Thus, stolen garbage vans were parked at the exits from the nearest police stations and set alight, and on strategic routes, caltrops were spread on the road to stop the cops from pursuing the getaways. This was known as the second-biggest Danish heist in history.

On February 21, 2025, Frederik Louis Hviid (Enforcement 2020, Huset 2023) brought the idea behind the criminal’s process and thoughts to theaters and On Demand with his film The Quiet Ones. Released through Magnet Releasing, the new feature starring Gustav Dyekjaer Giese (Northwest 2013, Into The Darkness 2020), Reda Kateb (A Prophet 2009, Zero Dark Thirty 2012), Amanda Collin (The Exception 2019, Raised by Wolves series), and Christopher Wagelin (Easy Money 2010, Welcome to Sweden series), tells the story of Kasper, a boxer who risks everything to pull off the biggest heist in danish history with several other men.

The opening of The Quiet Ones features two people making their daily cash pickups at a bank when two vehicles block the van and begin to try and rob them. This is the setup for Slimani’s (Kateb) story. A criminal who likes his control and is not afraid to show who exactly is in control. You then get a glimpse into Kasper’s (Giese) life. In the beginning, Kasper is cooking food for his daughter and wife, establishing that he is indeed a family man. Then comes the introduction of what Kasper is working towards outside of his family, mixed with a subtle hint about his past.

Overall, the character dynamics in The Quiet Ones are intriguing. Kasper (Giese) is the family man dedicated to becoming a famous boxer and giving his family a more plentiful life, Slimani the lifetime controlling criminal, and Hasse (Wagelin) the backup planner come together for one purpose. Although her character does not have too many big parts in the actual film, Collin, portraying Maria, a nighttime guard who does not want to abide by command, is spectacular with her character.

Though it may seem like more dialogue and character story-driven, the ending is indeed something to watch all the way through. The Quiet Ones is basically Kasper, the brain of the operation, planning how to rob the place so that the team comes together to put the plan into action. It is a film meant to be more about a process than a straight-up Action film.

Altogether, Writer Andres Frithiof August (The Model 2016, The Marco Effect 2021) creates an interesting, through-process, edge-of-your-seat story in The Quiet Ones with a little bit of Drama and Action that is based loosely on the greatest heist of all Danish time. However, if you want to watch this movie for a lot of hardcore action and thrills, then it might not be the first choice. The Quiet Ones is a pretty great watch, and Cryptic Rock gives it 5 out of 5 stars.
