Arriving on Demand and Digital October 28, 2025, through Lionsgate comes the new Thomas J. Churchill Horror film, The Salem Chronicles. Churchill, with over twenty director credits to his name, has made a name for himself in the modern Horror scene, particularly as the producer of 2010’s Mr. Hush and as the director/writer of films such as 2020′s The Amityville Harvest and 2021’s The Amityville Moon. Now with The Salem Chronicles, he dives into the world of witchcraft and folklore.

Out just in time for Halloween, it features a cast of Michael Cervantes (Clown Fear 2020, Bloodthirst 2023), Gina Vitori (Magnum P.I. series, Monsters series), Grant George (Avengers Assemble series, Elena of Avalor series), David Castro (The Lincoln Lawyer 2011, Runner Runner 2013), and Arnella Barbara (8 Days to Hell 2022, Night Carnage 2025).
Offering a horrific glimpse into a twisted past, The Salem Chronicles follow a young detective, Hal Mundy (Cervantes), who is contacted to settle his late mother’s estate in Salem, Massachusetts, after she suddenly passes away. Hesitant to make the trip back home, he takes his pregnant wife, Sarah (Vitori), with him on what becomes an eye-opening journey. Hal soon realizes he is in Salem for plans that are far more sinister than he expected. Terrified, Hal and his wife must find a way to escape the evil forces that mean to keep them bound to historic witch city forever.

As far as movies being made about the madness that swept Salem between 1692 and 1693, there have been many. Always a point of interest for those curious about history and witchcraft, The Salem Chronicles differ from the run-of-the-mill witch trials. As the writer and director of the film, Thomas J. Churchill shows the gritty realism of this very poignant part of American history and lore. Furthermore, Michael Cervantes brings his character to life with such enthusiasm and reverence. Meanwhile, Gina Vitori is also brilliant and admirable in her role alongside him.

Overall, The Salem Chronicles is an enjoyable new Horror film that is a step above some lesser quality films in the same realm. A good option for this Halloween viewing season, Cryptic Rock gives The Salem Chronicles 3 out of 5 stars.
