The supernatural and romance sometimes go hand in hand. Something of gothic fantasy, there are stories which touch on these topics, and one of the latest is called The Seduction of Rose Parrish.
A short film written and directed by industry veteran Charles Band, most recognize his name as the man behind Empire Pictures in the early ‘80s, before he went onto launch Full Moon Productions later in the decade. That in mind, as a filmmaker Band has dabbled everything from Horror to Sci-Fi, but also Fantasy. Quite diverse, with The Seduction of Rose Parrish his story unifies more sensual aspects of a ghost love affair that hark back to the more adult orientated Romance Thrillers.
Originally released for streaming back on December 31, 2021, now in 2024 it gets an official DVD release thanks to Full Moon Features. Set for release to DVD on February 6th, the release offers the 32-minute Band film and features a nicely crafted artwork. Offering just the film, along with the official trailer, plus some other Full Moon trailers, it is really something for dedicated fans who prefer a tangible product opposed to the sometimes-empty experience streaming offers.

This all considered, the film plays like an episode of HBO’s Tales from the Crypt, or Erotic Showtime series from the ‘90s, Red Shoe Diaries. Mixing the elements of Horror with Erotic ones, the story is quite simple – a young woman named Rose Parrish (Kelly Connor: Lindsay’s World series, My Crazy Ex series) moves into her ancestral home after a difficult split with her boyfriend. Rose, heartbroken and looking for a fresh start, finds herself soon receiving visits from the house’s spirit, Thomas. A tale of lost love, longing, and finding true freedom once more, will Rose and Thomas (Justin Gerhad: Almost Adults 2016, Birder 2023) join as one?
As mentioned, not a complicated concept, the pace of the film is even and the story is enticing enough to keep you involved. Furthermore, the house is perfectly selected and fits the mood just right. This, combined with Kelly Connor’s believable performance of Rose Parrish, make this a fun little film to watch with your partner after dark for a little Gothic Romance. That is why Cryptic Rock gives The Seduction of Rose Parrish, and this DVD release, 4 out of 5 stars.
