During the 1980’s a new wave of British heavy metal also known as NWOBH took metal to a new level. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Angel Witch, Grim Reaper, among others were some of the bands to lead the way of the movement. An influential period of heavy metal which paved the way for many modern metal bands. One of the biggest and most popular bands of the time was Barnsley, South Yorkshire based band Saxon. Originally formed in 1976 the band has released 20 full length albums since that time and have sold 15 million records worldwide. Most recently the band pillaged through The Emporium in Patchogue New York along with Fozzy.
A nice size crowd gathered at The Emporium early to catch Chris Jericho and Fozzy light up the stage. Most commonly associated with his wrestling career Jericho has become a respected name in heavy metal and achieved massive success with their latest album Sin and Bones (2012). The band rocked hard and engaged the crowd with strong stage presence.
Warmed up and ready to go the crowd was ready for Saxon. The heavy metal veterans still rock hard and heavy as they have in years pasted. They performed a balanced set of their classic metal tunes ranging their entire discography. With tracks like “Wheels Of Steel”, “Princess Of The Night”, “Wheels Of Terror”, and “Power And the Glory” fans were immediately reminded of the juggernaut these metal titans are. With blazing guitar solos and riffs Saxon lit the set on fire with an excellent performance.
