Phoenix modern rockers Defy Tolerance know how to throw a Halloween party the right way. Celebrating the Autumn Solstice in true form the band have chosen the Day of the Dead to premiere the chilling video for their new single, “Get You Nowhere.” Freddy Kilo wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the music with bassist Donny Rosko. Freddy says, “I wrote this song in reference to a couple of people I knew at the time that were doing things I just couldn’t believe people would actually do. You know those types of people, it’s when they do something expecting a certain outcome, and the exact opposite happens. It makes you shake your head and say, ‘some people…’, which was actually what the song was titled before we recorded it, “Some People” – it fittingly describes the outcome of some people, specifically the ones who never learn.
The “Get You Nowhere” video, shot at Jack and Jill’s Haunted Hill in Phoenix, AZ was directed by D.E.Angle of All Areas Covered Media and stars Bridget Rogers and Carlos Berber. The video is about a wife who is cheating on her husband and in the end it gets her taken to hell by the Grim Reaper and ultimately gets her nowhere. The idea is that some people listen to bad influences and do bad things constantly. In the end those people lose. It doesn’t get them the girl, the trophy, the new house, it gets them nowhere. The video took the band about 10 hours straight of shooting film and an additional 4 or 5 hours for the story sections.
“Get You Nowhere” is pulled from the band’s latest album, Stop The Bleeding, released via Able Records and produced by Ken Mary (Fifth Angel, House of Lords, Alice Cooper drummer)
