What better way is there to find reprieve from the frigid winter than within the confines of film festival? Founded in New York, returning for their tenth overall event in the last five years, the Macabre Faire Film Festival hits the Long Island area the weekend of January 13th through the 15th. With plenty of excitement ahead, it is a festival with lighter fare, where not all films screened are gorey, thus making it one of the most diversity of its kind in Northeast. That in mind, it has become a hotspot for many up and coming talented filmmakers and actors to have their projects seen.
Featuring ninety-two titles with twenty of them Features and seventy-two Shorts scheduled to be shown, there is a little something for everyone. Among the many films, The Ruins of Villastrigo, Impervia, Laid to Rest, Theta States, and Romeo’s Distress are making their world premiere, while She Rises is making its US premiere. Held at the Clarion Hotel off Veterans Memorial Hwy in Ronkonkoma, conveniently located up the road from MacArthur Airport, it all starts Friday evening with a comedy roast.
Keeping the entertainment coming, Saturday will be the two hour red carpet premiere, while films will be shown throughout the weekend. In additional to it all, festival ambassador Eileen Dietz will be on hand for photos and autographs along with Horror favorite Eugene Clark, better known as “Big Daddy” in the 2005 George A. Romero’s film Land of the Dead, along with Jasson Finney known for his work on Fox’s hit series Gotham.
With hours of Friday 5:00pm to Midnight, Saturday from 12:00pm – Midnight, and Sunday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, there will be not a moment of downtime from beginning to end. Debuted “Sundance with Fangs!” by Newsday Entertainment Long Island 2016, the Macabre Film Festival winter of 2017 is not to be missed.
